As it was promised, on May 27, the Sega publisher held a special broadcast of Sonic Central in honor of the early 30th anniversary of the original Sonic The Hedgehog. The show was not without announcements.
First, within the framework of the program, it was officially represented confirmed in March 2019 a new full-fledged game of the series from Sonic Team. The name project has not yet received.
In the tizer dedicated to the announcement, showing the Sonic running along the forest, which pours a symbol resembling the word ZAP on the landscape. Release in 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Nintendo Switch.
Secondly, during the broadcast, the rumors were confirmed about Remaster of the Sonic Colors action platformer with Nintendo Wii and DS. As expected, the reprint will be called Sonic Colors: Ultimate.
Sonic Colors: Ultimate will go on sale on September 7 of the current year for PC (Epic Games Store), PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The enlarged publication, among other things, includes early access (from September 3) to the project.
Finally, Sega introduced a Sonic Origins Collection, including Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, as well as Sonic CD for the “Newest Platforms”. What exactly, not specifying.
The original Sonic The Hedgehog debuted on June 23, 1991 on the Prefix Sega Genesis. For the time since then, a series of high-speed platformers managed to become one of the most recognizable and profitable in the history of the industry.
