Square Enix publishers, together with the studios Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, have unveiled the details of the Marvel’s Avengers action-adventure versions for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The game will be released on March 18th for the next generation consoles.
While Marvel’s Avengers was heavily criticized at launch, it looks like Square Enix isn’t ready to drop the game just yet. It was announced this month that Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 editions will be released alongside Operation Future Imperfect, which focuses on Hawkie’s journey into a bleak future. However, only now has the company talked about the benefits of the new generation consoles.
On the PlayStation 5, the game will have two modes of operation: performance (staggered 4K @ 60fps) and quality (full 4K). Also on the Sony console they promise:
- Significant improvement in download speed;
- High resolution textures;
- Improved display of destruction of armor and suits;
- Stochastic screen space reflections (SSSR);
- High resolution transparency;
- Improved shading;
- Improved anisotropic texture filtering;
- Spatial sound;
- Improved vibration.
There will only be one operating mode on Microsoft consoles: Full 4K on Xbox Series X and 1440p on Xbox Series S.
For some obscure reason, Square Enix did not mention the performance mode, nor the frame rate. In terms of additional features, the Xbox Series X and S version will offer the same as the PlayStation 5, apart from improved vibration and spatial sound.
Marvel’s Avengers is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
