The center for the study of near-earth objects belonging to the laboratory of the NASA reactive movement reports that on the first day of the upcoming summer with our planet, a potentially dangerous asteroid will be brought together.
We are talking about the object with the designation 2021 KT1. According to some estimates, its size reaches approximately 330 meters in diameter. For comparison: the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is 324 meters.
It is reported that the asteroid gets close to the Earth on June 1 of this year. However, our planet does not threaten anything. The cosmic body will be held at a distance of approximately 7.24 million kilometers from us – it is approximately 19 times greater than the distance between the Earth and the Moon.
The asteroid will be passed by our planet at a speed of about 18 kilometers per second. The body belongs to the Class “Apollonov”: These are near-earth asteroids, whose orbits crosses the Earth orbit from the outside. Such objects are potentially dangerous for our planet.
