The demand for printing devices took off by almost 20%

The study conducted by International Data Corporation (IDC) indicates that the printing equipment has sharply increased dramatically (Hardcopy Peripherals, HCP). The increase in demand is explained by the pandemic, due to which the rapid development of distance learning and remote work platforms began.

IDC statistics covers the sale of traditional printers of different types (laser and inkjet), multifunctional devices, as well as copiers. We are talking about the technique of A2-A4 formats.

In the first quarter of this year, 25.5 million printing devices were implemented worldwide. This is 19.3% more compared to the first quarter of the 2020, when deliveries were 21.4 million pieces.

If we consider the industry in monetary terms, then the growth was 10.8%. The result of the first quarter of the current year is $ 10.9 billion.

The leading market player is HP Inc. With a share of 42.4% in pieces of expression. In second place is Epson from 19.4%, and the Troika Canon Group is closed – 18.5%. Next, they follow Brother and Kyocera Group, the fractions of which are 7.2% and 1.8%, respectively.

Thus, five leading suppliers control almost 90% of the global market. All other manufacturers hold only 10.8% of the industry.
