A completely new design is immediately rushed into the eyes, the basis of which the Material You style has become a change to the Material Design used in previous versions of the OS. New style brought a lot of visual changes, including large and bright design elements, dynamic colors and more smooth animation. Google Vice-President of Android and Play Product Management Market Samir Samat called the new interface “The largest change in the design in the history of Android”.

One of the main features of the new interface is the ability to automatically change system colors when changing wallpaper. Android 12 will pick up shades so that they best combined with the user selected wallpaper and each other. These shades are applied to buttons, sliders and other elements of the interface, due to which a more harmonious picture is created.

The lock screen also received some changes. A significant part of it occupies the clocks that are located in the center if there are no unread notifications. When notifications come, the clock becomes slightly smaller in size. The lock screen is also painted in an emphasis color combined with systemic themes.

A new widget system has appeared in Android 12. Like all other interface elements, they are big and bright, at least this applies to Google’s branded application widgets. One of the features is that when the widget is placed on top of custom wallpapers, its color is a bit adjusted to better combine the area of the picture, next to which it is located. Supplement the interface new animations, which, according to developers, do not create an additional load on the processor due to quality optimization.

The quick settings menu remains the same, but the elements in it are also larger than the everywhere. The notifications themselves changed a bit outwardly and received a new animation. Holding the power button. Now you can activate Google Assistant, which will offer more contextual dependent functions depending on which screen is open by the user.

In Android 12, developers implemented several new features aimed at increasing user data privacy. Now, when you turn on the camera or microphone in the upper right corner of the screen, an appropriate icon with a green dot will appear, notifying that the entry is being recorded. The system will also block application attempt to run the camera or microphone without having a user permission. Two additional switches appeared in the quick settings menu, which will allow you to quickly disable and include access to the camera and microphone.

Another confidential configuration concerns the location function. The user can choose how exactly this or that application determines the location of the device. In addition to accurate location, you can choose “Approximate”. Google also created a new “privacy control panel”, location-oriented, microphone and chamber. This panel, among other things, will provide statistics on which applications and how often certain data are used.

One more step towards ensuring greater privacy is made with the appearance of the Private Compute Core function, thanks to which some actions will be fully processed on the smartphone without accessing the Google cloud service. For example, the “Smart Answers” functions in Gmail or “is playing” when playing music will be processed locally.

Concerning confidentiality of these many people is also interested in the issue of collecting and processing user data for personalized advertising. Not so long ago, Apple has banned the developers of iOS applications to collect data without explicit user permission and rumored that Google will go similarly. However, during the presentation of Android 12, no specific statements were made on this issue.
