But before it should be noted that the model with a similar name and design – ID-Cooling SE-207 – We tested as much as in February 2018. Despite the external similarity with the hero of today’s article, this is still another cooler, and from the total they only have the number of thermal tubes.

ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black is a classic two-way cooler, made on all the canons of the best representatives of this class of processor cooling systems. Fully black, strict and firmly shot down, it impresses a serious device for cooling any, even the hottest processors.



At the same time, the height of the cooler is only 156 mm, that is, it will even log in in the usual case of system blocks, which is its undoubted advantage. Width and length are 123 and 142 mm, respectively. The cooler is heavy – and this is a good sign. Its mass – 1300 grams, of which 823 grams account for the radiator. Thus, the coefficient of the cooler of the cooler is 0.633. There are no plastic overlays and there is no fashionable backlight, so that RGB lovers this model is unlikely to have to taste.

ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black consists of two tower radiators, each of which is permeated with seven heat pipes, and 120 mm fans are installed on the outside of the sections and on one outer side.


Fans pump the air flow through radiators sequentially, and the symmetry of the sections allows you to install the third fan using an additional pair of complete fasteners.


The sides are partially closed with locks downwards down the ends of the Ryubers, providing the rigidity of the design. But still most of them are open to the outlet of the air flow. Also on this view, it can be seen that the SE-207-XT Black model has a radiator with respect to the central axis, rather than shifting forward along the movement of the air flow, as is done in the design of the usual SE-207.

The size of the contact surface is 46 × 40 mm, that is, it is quite enough even for huge thermal distributors of AMD processor processors of the SOsket TR4, but for them SE-207-XT Black will not suit the attachment. In this case, the ID-cooling other model is seeded – SE-207-TRX Black.

Fans are identical to each other both constructively and according to the characteristics. The speed of rotation of their impeller is controlled automatically by pulse modulation (PWM) in the range from 700 to 1800 rpm. In this case, the maximum air flow of each fan can reach 76.16 CFM, the static pressure is 2.16 mm H2O, and the noise level of one fan is declared in the range from 15.2 to 35.2 dba.

At the stator of each fan, a paper “plug” is glued with a model marking, information about the electrical characteristics and the country of production.

Only the fact that they are hydrodynamic are known about the bearings, but their service life is not specified in characteristics. Measured power consumption barely exceeded 2.5 W, and the start voltage turned out to be 3.5 V.

Silicone corners, suitable for each side of the frame, are designed to minimize the transmission of vibrations from the fans to the radiator and reduce the noise level.

Each of the fans is attached to its Wire brackets. Here they are moderately tight, that is, they hold each “turntable” reliably, but also do not cause inconvenience when installing / removing.

The length of the fan cables is 450 mm, and another 200 mm adds a Y-shaped cable to them to connect three fans to one connector on the motherboard or refoiss.

ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black is compatible with Intel processors of design LGA115X / 2011 (V3) / 2066/1200 and AMD processors Socket AM4. Evaluation of the effectiveness of ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black We were conducted in the closed case of the system unit on the following configuration:

The central processor worked in the nominal mode, and its frequency, with simultaneous multi-threaded load on all the kernels, was equal to 4.8 GHz at a voltage of 1.26 V.

At the same time, according to the HWINFO64 utility, the heat generation level of the eight-cheri processor in the load exceeded 230 watts. In turn, the voltage of the RAM modules was recorded at 1.350 V, and its frequency was 3.6 GHz without adjusting timings.

Testing was carried out in the Microsoft Windows 10 Pro version 20H2 operating system (19042.928). Software used for test:

  • PRIME95 30.5 Build 2 – To create a load on processors (Small FFTS mode without AVX, two consecutive cycles for 13 minutes);
  • Hwinfo64 7.02-4430 – to monitor temperatures and visual control of all system parameters.

The load on the processor was created by two prime95 consecutive cycles. The stabilization of the processor temperature between the cycles was assigned to 14-15 minutes. For the final result that you will see on the diagram, the maximum temperature of the most hottest of eight central processor cores in the peak of the load and in idle mode is adopted. In addition, in a separate table, the temperatures of all the processor cores will be shown, their averaged values ​​and the temperature delta between the kernels. The room temperature was controlled by an electronic thermometer installed next to the system unit with a measurement accuracy of 0.1 ° C and with the possibility of hourly monitoring the temperature change in the room over the past 6 hours. During this test, the temperature ranged in the range of 26.3-26.8 ° C.

The measurement of the noise level of the cooling systems was carried out with an OKTAVA-110A electronic sound level meter from zero to three o’clock in the morning in a completely closed room with an area of ​​about 20 m2 with double-glazed windows. The noise level was measured outside the case of the system unit, when the source of noise in the room was only the cooling system and its fans. The sound level meter, fixed on a tripod, was always located strictly at one point at a distance of exactly 150 mm from the fan rotor. The cooling systems were placed at the very corner of the table on a polyethylene foam substrate. The lower limit of the sound level meter measurements is 22.0 dBA, and the subjectively comfortable (please do not confuse it with low!) Noise level of cooling systems when measured from such a distance is about 36 dBA. We take a value of 33 dBA for a relatively low noise level.

To assess the efficiency and noise level ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black, we compare it with the leader of the average price segment of tower coolers – ID-Cooling SE-224-XT BASIC (180 W TDP) in mode with one standard fan, as well as with Two fans from SE-207-XT Black installed on the radiator according to the “Fool-blowing” scheme.



In addition, as a reference in the chart and the table shows the results of the NOctua NH-D15S Chromax.black supercutuer with two regular fans.


We add that the speed control of all fans of the cooling systems was carried out using a special controller with an accuracy of ± 10 rpm in the range from 800 rpm to their maximum with a step of 200 rpm.

⇡#Cooling efficiency

As expected, ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black won a convincing victory over ID-Cooling SE-224-XT Basic in regular equipment of these coolers. At the maximum turnover of two of its fans, a new two-bunned cooler is more efficient at once at once on 8 degrees Celsius in the peak of the load – and this is a very significant advantage. Further, while reducing the speed of these two coolers to 1600 rpm, the advantage of SE-207-XT Black increases to 9 degrees Celsius, and at 1400 rpm – up to 10 degrees. The point in this unequal battle puts a 1200 rpm regime, where the difference between these coolers reaches 9 degrees Celsius, as well as the fact that the best budget cooler did not cope with the cooling of the new Intel processor.

In other words, in equal conditions with two identical fans, the difference in the effectiveness between ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black and SE-224-XT Basic ranges from 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, and this is no longer as impressive numbers with a small two-time difference. In the context of the title of today’s article, the results of the new ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black are interesting in comparison with the indicators of the present supercutua nh-d15s chromax.black. And here the SE-207-XT Black looks not so convincing. ⇡#Noise level

By the noise level, the two-stranded ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black has demonstrated quite predictable results. Since its “turntables” is constructively identical to the SE-224-XT Basic fan, the noise level curves of these coolers pass in parallel to each other, and SE-207-XT Black with two fans is louder. However, there is still no critical difference between them, especially in moderates of medium revolutions, where the two-born cooler can be called comfortable at the speed of its fans 1030 rpm and quiet at a speed of 920 rpm. This is good indicators, especially if we take into account the lack of vibrations / structures of the impeller throughout the high-speed range, as well as the pride of electric motors. At the same time, returning to the topic of supercouples, it is impossible not to noted that at the maximum speeds of two fans id-cooling and noctua SE-207-XT Black noise level 5.1 dB is higher than that of NH-D15S chromax.black, which he lost In this mode, 2 degrees Celsius.


We are objective: the new ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black cannot be called a supercouper, since its cooling efficiency is still lower than that of the best representatives of air coolers. The reasons why it happened is obvious: the insufficient area of ​​radiators, the absence of soldering in the places of contact plates and heat pipes, as well as in places of pairing heat pipes with the base. Well, supercouplers with 120 mm fans, as a rule, does not happen (this moment is directly related to the size and area of ​​radiators).

Nevertheless, SE-207-XT Black is the most efficient ID-Cooling cooler for today, and it is confidently ahead of the leader of the middle class SE-224-XT BASIC, in particular, with an equal number of fans. And praise SE-207-XT Black can not only twice the lower cost than the supercouplers, but also for the competent distribution of heat pipes along the radiator plates, the presence of optimizations in the knockers, two fans with vibration-breaking and the presence of fasteners for installing the third, versatility and reliable fastening. Plus it is undemanding to the thickness of the system blocks. But RAM modules with radiators with a height of more than 40 mm will make it possible to properly install the external fan on the radiator.

In the dry residue: ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Black is very decent to its dimensions and the cost of the cooler without claims to leadership among air cooling systems for central processors.
